We specialize in ready to wear, special occasion, bridal and jewelry. Each piece is designed and produced by hand in California.

The DESIGNER:

Robin N. Fator, the self-made fashion designer behind Dark Pony Atelier.

My journey with this handmade fashion brand began with a degree in visual art. My online retail entry point was re-selling vintage clothing on eBay after leaving my job as a gallery director to become a stay at home mom in the early 2000s. Dark Pony Atelier’s humble origin began in 2009, as an Etsy shop and a concept. In addition to being a designer and maker, I am also a fashion non-profit founder and creative director.

The DARK PONY inspiration:

The brand name is inspired by my favorite children's folk tale, Dark Pony. The Dark Pony character in the story symbolizes a vehicle for escaping reality, a way to travel to dreamland where castles float on puffy clouds and trees are made of gold.

Dark Pony Designs is committed to sourcing suppliers and materials from the United States whenever possible. Tulle for all of the label's tutu skirts & dresses is manufactured in the USA. Dark Pony Designs uses minimal plastics when shipping.
